Billy is introduced as a violent man
beating up Jamie - but is now the saviour of Mo - the victim of domestic
Billy again - he also seems to have
kicked his alcoholism with little difficulty and now can drink with
Phil and Grant engage in a high speed
chase with super baddies which lands Phil in hospital while Grant
disappears with the dosh - but somehow the police don't bother to
try to arrest Phil, despite knowing that he was involved and visiting
him in hospital. Since when do the police not arrest you because you
tell them you don't have the money you stole anymore...
Bianca goes through the trauma of her
child being born stillborn (or getting some disease or something -
can't remember the details) but Carol can't pop round from South London!
And as if the police would hide someone in a witness protection thingummy
in south london - at least send them up to Leeds or something! I take
it that was some kind of joke on 'going south of the river' and there
bedragons and all that...
Dan (Carole's boyf) transforming from
naughty lad (who is terribly sweet and desperate to marry her - but
has rather unfortunately already shagged her daughter) to nutty psycho
man who spends his time kidnapping people...
The consistently dreadful gay characters
are an inconsistency inthemselves - the dreaded Tony and Simon were
the least like any gay couple you ever met. As if you could make an
actor a bit wet and suddenly he's gay (Simon)- even worse when Simon
started to break away from the mixed-up tone and go out taking 'e'
- come on your giving the drug a bad name.
Phil doesn't even bother going to S.
Africa to visit his son - though happy to go careening round europe
trying to track down his latest sproglet.
Why do people from Eastenders always
leave and move to the States? What about Scotland, or France? Or even
Australia? At least have some variety...
